Arvad Wines

Arvad was founded in 2016 on a property on the banks of the Arade River, overlooking Silves. Its twelve hectares of land are exposed to northerly winds, which allows for large daily temperature variations. A Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influences, complemented by clayey, calcareous soil, and where the weight of history is gathered. It was in this region that wine was introduced to Portugal, brought from the East by Phoenician travellers. It took root in the Silves area through the word of exchange and discovery, and was drunk as a ritual, as proof of civilisation. Arvad, once the word for “refuge”, today applies to the care and quality of its wines, made from both red grape varieties such as Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional or Cabernet Sauvignon, and white grape varieties such as Alvarinho, Arinto and Sauvignon Blanc.
