Herdade Papa Leite

Herdade Papa Leite is located in the heart of Alto Alentejo, in Alter do Chão. Its origins date back to the 17th century and it was used to farm cork oaks, holm oaks, cereals and Alentejana cattle. Herdade Papa Leite wines are the fruit of the dream of Producer Filipe Barreiros Cardoso, after years of tasting and researching around the world in search of new ideas, to make different wines for great connoisseurs and not just great wines. A symbiosis between knowledge and the desire to do better. It all begins in the vineyard. The micro-climate of the northeast Alentejo and the characteristics of the soil create unique terroir conditions, which are reflected in the flavor and aroma of the wines produced. The presence of clay accumulated at a certain depth in the soil, combined with the gentle slope of the hillside where the vineyard is planted, allows for excellent drainage. And its excellent sun exposure, from east to west, allows for good grape ripening.
