Quinta Vale D. Maria

Founded in 1996 by Cristiano van Zeller, a winemaker and charismatic storyteller, Quinta Vale Dona Maria is one of the most prestigious wineries in the Douro. One of the founding members of the Douro Boys, Quinta Vale D. Maria pioneered the combination of traditional techniques with modern winemaking practices, communicating and promoting the Douro region worldwide. The Quinta is located in the Cima Corgo mountains, next to the Torto River, and its origins date back to 1868. Each wine created at Quinta Vale D. Maria tells a story, reflecting the uniqueness of each plot. Full respect for this unique terroir was essential to reveal the diversity of indigenous grape varieties and the magic of field blends . The result is a collection of unique wines, widely recognized for their authenticity and elegance. Today, Quinta Vale D. Maria is part of Aveleda, owned by the Guedes family. Its roots extend to the Upper Douro, where, at Quinta Vale do Sabor, it found the ideal terroir to create wines that reveal the virtuous capacity to produce wines with deep fruit and mineral notes, in the lesser-known Douro sub-region.
