Casal Sta. Maria Malvasia is a bright greenish wine with golden highlights. Light floral aromas characteristic of the variety, with notes of anise and tangerine, fresh and vibrant, expressing the wild terroir where it grows. An immediate sensation of freshness and acidity, with notes of orange and tangerine jam, a long finish, and the characteristic saltiness of the Colares region.

  • Soil: Grapes from the original vineyards, planted in 2006 by Mr. Barão Bodo von Bruemmer, located in Casal Sta. Maria, next to Praia da Adraga and in Galamares, all with very different characteristics.
  • Winemaking: Vineyards planted on the hard soil of Colares. Deliberate, late hand-harvesting allows the full aromatic component of Malvasia to develop. Skin maceration of 100% of the grapes for 6-8 hours. Light crushing of the berries followed by gentle cold pressing.
  • Tasting Notes: A bright greenish wine with golden highlights. Light floral aromas characteristic of the variety, with notes of anise and tangerine, fresh and vibrant, expressing the wild terroir where it grows. An immediate sensation of freshness and acidity, with notes of orange and tangerine jam, a long finish with the characteristic saltiness of the Colares region.
  • Maturation: 70% of the production was aged in stainless steel tanks and 30% in French oak barrels for 6 months.
  • Serve: Between 8ºC and 10ºC
  • Winemaker: Jorge Rosa Santos and Antonio Figueiredo
  • Conservation: Can benefit from bottle aging for 8 years.
  • Food Pairing: Grilled chicken, roast turkey, or lemon chicken pair well with their lightness and acidity. Medium-textured cheeses are also a good option.
