Casal Sta. Maria Reserva Red is a garnet-colored wine with a clear appearance. It has an intense balsamic aroma, with nuances of cedar and cigar box. Black plum-like fruit is accompanied by light floral and spicy notes. On the palate, it is engaging, with broad, smooth tannins, spicy, and balsamic notes again defining the profile. The finish is very elegant and persistent.

  • Soil: Grapes from our original vineyards, planted in 2006 by Mr. Barão Bodo von Bruemmer, located in Casal Sta. Maria.
  • Winemaking: The hand-harvested grapes are carefully selected in the vineyard and winery. After lightly crushing the grapes, they undergo cold maceration in open stainless steel tanks for three days. Fermentation takes about two weeks with daily pumping over.
  • Tasting Notes: Clear garnet color. Intense balsamic aroma, with nuances of cedar and cigar box. Dark plum-like fruit, accompanied by light floral and spicy notes. On the palate, it is enveloping, with broad, smooth tannins, spicy, and balsamic notes again defining the profile. The finish is very elegant and persistent.
  • Maturation: Aged for 14 months in new and used French oak barrels.
  • Serve: Between 16ºC and 18ºC
  • Winemaker: Jorge Rosa Santos and Antonio Figueiredo
  • Conservation: Can benefit from bottle aging for 6 years.
  • Food Pairing: Red meats and hard cheeses are great options. Dishes like lasagna, mushroom risotto, and sausage also pair well.
