Erupção Vulcânica brings together the best wines from the 2018, 2019 and 2021 harvests in search of the expression of the volcanic soils of Pico. It's Erupção Vulcânica! Open ruby ​​color, explosive nose with notes of red fruit, smoke, sea and some vegetal. In the mouth it is fresh, textured with lots of salinity and fine tannins.

  • Soil: A unique terroir in the world, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, at the base of the volcanic Pico mountain, the vineyards are planted in the cracks of the rock, next to the sea, where you can hear the “crab singing”, as it is here that there is more sun and heat. A proximity of sometimes just a few metres means that the vineyards need to be protected by walls (corrals) from the strong and salty winds of the Atlantic.
  • Winemaking: Selective manual harvest in 20kg baskets, the grapes are selected on a sorting table, 30% whole bunch, 70% destemmed, fall by gravity into the vat. Spontaneous fermentation and maceration of 25 to 30 days on skins.
  • Tasting Notes: Open ruby color, explosive nose with notes of red fruit, smoke, sea and some vegetables. In the mouth it is fresh, textured with lots of salinity and fine tannins.
  • Maturation: 50% in barrels and 50% in stainless steel vats. Average aging time of 30 months.
  • Serve: Between 16ºC and 18ºC

  • Food Pairing: Fresh, elegant, spicy and saline red. Ideal partner for casserole dishes, fatty meats and, for the bravest, in the classic Azorean pairing with complex fish dishes such as fish stews, cataplana or others.
