  • Soil: Located in Lavre and 12 years old. The Mediterranean climate provides a wide range of temperatures and the poor soils of the transition from clay to sand in this part of the Alentejo region allow, despite the very low productivity, conditions to be created for ripening with great aromatic expression and retention of freshness. Second manual harvest from this plot, transported in small 12 kg boxes to the winery.
  • Winemaking: The bunches selected from the vineyard are partially destemmed and transported by gravity to a small cement press where, with 30% of the grapes bled, they ferment at a controlled temperature for 7 days. After the alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation follows during a fermentation period of approximately 15 days. After pressing, all the wine is transferred to French oak barrels.
  • Tasting Notes: Castelão, synonymous with headaches for many and lesser wine for others, is in this case a revisitation of the source of elegance and the bones of the great Alentejos of yesteryear. Breaking the rules of aesthetics, it transports us to a distant past with a seriousness of great delicacy.
  • Maturation: Aged for 18 months in Tronçais barrels.
