Quinta dos Castelares Reserva Tinto is a wine with a 'Freixenista' character from the Douro Superior. It is made from grapes from low-altitude vineyards, on the edge of Souro, with old vines at around 600m, of the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz varieties. This combination gave rise to this wine that stands out for the intensity of its aromas of ripe black fruits.

  • Soil: The grapes come from old vines planted on terraces on the banks of the Douro, combined with grapes from the highest vineyards of Quinta dos Castelares, in Freixo de Espada à Cinta, in the Douro Superior, at an altitude of between 500 and 600 metres. The shale soils are terraced and the vineyards face north-east.
  • Winemaking: Manual harvest. Complete destemming followed by crushing. The grapes are fermented by variety and by vineyard plot, with the aim of making the selection that allows for the best final result. Fermentation in small capacity stainless steel vats, at a temperature of 24ºC. Controlled and gentle maceration, with the aim of obtaining concentrated, aromatic and elegant wines.
  • Tasting Notes: This is a red wine with a 'Freixenista' character from the Douro Superior. It is made from grapes from low-altitude vineyards, on the edge of Souro, with old vines at around 600m, of the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz varieties. This combination gave rise to this wine that stands out for the intensity of its aromas of ripe black fruits.
