  • Soil:
  • Winemaking: It is vinified in the Quinta da Leda winery, using grapes selected from this estate, which are predominantly from the high areas of the Douro Superior. After destemming and gentle crushing, the grapes are sent to stainless steel vats, where alcoholic fermentation takes place. This is followed by a long and gentle maceration, at a controlled temperature, with the aim of extracting the compounds that contribute to the color, aroma, flavor and longevity of Barca-Velha.
  • Tasting Notes: Deep ruby colour. Very complex aroma, with prominent spices such as pepper, balsamic notes, cedar, red fruits such as ripe plum, slate and high-quality, well-integrated wood. On the palate, it has vibrant, very lively acidity, very firm tannins, notes of spices, black fruits and balsamic flavours. The finish is extremely long, with great elegance and complexity.
  • Maturation: Aged in French oak barrels for a period of approximately 18 months. The final blend is made based on a careful selection of the best wines, resulting from numerous tastings and analyses carried out on the different blends and barrels throughout this period. In order to preserve the highest quality, it is only subjected to filtration before bottling.
  • Serve: Between 16ºC and 18ºC
  • Winemaker: Luis Sottomayor
  • Conservation: Although ready to drink, it has a long aging potential and evolves positively in the bottle, which should be kept horizontally. Its peak? Perhaps 15 to 20 years after harvest, although it is expected to remain alive for an as yet undetermined period.
  • Food Pairing: More carefully prepared dishes of meat, game and even some cheeses, with exquisite and well-integrated flavors.
  • Bottle Size: 75cl
