Technical Sheet
  • Soil: Traditional low-growing vineyards, close to the ground, protected from strong winds by reed beds or crochet walls. With vines between 40 and 80 years old. Calcareous soils with a sandy loam texture and a pH>8.5.
  • Winemaking: The grapes were harvested by hand on Saturday 14th August on the island of Porto Santo and loaded onto a refrigerated truck for transport by boat to the island of Madeira (since winemaking is not legal on Porto Santo). At 11pm, they were selected on a sorting table and pressed whole bunches into decantation tanks in a refrigerated container, separating three pressing fractions without any use of SO2 (sulphites). The first and second pressing fractions were fermented in used 228 L French oak barrels.
  • Tasting Notes: Crystalline straw yellow color. Intense nose, notes of citrus, orange peel with some iodine and gunpowder. Fresh, textured attack, unctuousness, concentration at mid-tasting, good freshness and persistence.
  • Maturation: Aged for 10 months in French oak barrels.
  • Serve: Between 8ºC and 10ºC
