Verdelho O Original is a fresh, mineral and saline wine, with the matrix of the Azorean grape varieties and terroir, but with a more exuberant, more tropical aroma, more Azorean pineapple and passion fruit, fresh fruit with acidity. It is not Verdelho-Gouveio, it is not Verdelho-Verdejo, it is Verdelho-Verdelho, the Original.

  • Soil: On the volcanic mountain of Pico, the vineyards are planted in the cracks of the rock, next to the sea, where you can hear the “crab singing”, as it is there that there is more sun and heat. A proximity of sometimes just a few metres means that the vineyards need to be protected by walls (corrals) from the strong, salty winds of the Atlantic.
  • Winemaking: Selective manual harvest in 20kg baskets, whole bunch pressing, transfer after 24 hours to 600-1000L fermentation tanks.
  • Tasting Notes: Fresh, mineral and saline, it has the matrix of the Azorean grape varieties and Terroir, but with a more exuberant, more tropical aroma, more Azorean pineapple and passion fruit, of fresh fruit with acidity. It is not Verdelho-Gouveio, it is not Verdelho-Verdejo, it is Verdelho-Verdelho, the Original.
  • Maturation: Fermentation in 600-1000L vats.
  • Serve: Between 11ºC and 13ºC
