  • Soil: Located in Lavre and 12 years old. The Mediterranean climate provides a wide range of temperatures and the poor soils of the transition from clay to sand in this part of the Alentejo region allow, despite the very low productivity, conditions to be created for ripening with great aromatic expression and retention of freshness. Hand-harvested from this plot, transported in small 12 kg boxes to the winery.
  • Winemaking: The bunches selected from the vineyard are destemmed and transported by gravity to a small cement press where, with 20% of the grapes bled, they ferment at a controlled temperature for 7 days. After the alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation follows during a fermentation period of approximately 15 days. After pressing, all the wine is transferred to French oak barrels.
  • Tasting Notes: A traditional Bordeaux broth tinged with the best that Alentejo has to offer, Castelão da Bica. With an elegantly subtle and spicy nose, it is after the attack in the mouth that the whole thing rises in an expression of solid but polished tannins, revealing black fruit.
  • Maturation: Aged for 24 months in Tronçais oak barrels and 24 months in the bottle.
