Quinta dos Castelares Red is a warm wine with the 'Freixenista' character of the Douro Superior. It has an aroma of ripe wild fruits, with notes of rockrose and discreet spices and floral notes. Very complex and elegant, with fine, smooth tannins and good volume in the mouth, which makes it very gastronomic.

  • Soil: The grapes come from vineyards planted on terraces next to the river, with high-altitude vineyards from Quinta dos Castelares, located in Freixo de Espada à Cinta, in the Douro Superior, at an altitude of between 500 and 600 metres. The soils are schist with high stoniness. The vineyard is planted on double-bard terraces and high-altitude vineyards. The dominant orientation is North-East.
  • Winemaking: Manual harvest. Reception with complete destemming and immediate crushing. The grapes are fermented by variety in order to make a rigorous selection that will later give rise to the blend. Fermentation takes place in small capacity stainless steel vats, at temperatures around 24ºC. Gentle and controlled maceration in order to obtain elegant and aromatic wines.
  • Tasting Notes: This is a mulled wine with the typical Freixenist character of the Douro Superior. It has an aroma of ripe wild berries, with notes of rockrose, spices and discreet floral notes. It is very complex and elegant, with fine, smooth tannins and good volume in the mouth, making it very gastronomic.
  • Maturation: In stainless steel up to the filling.
