The Roquette family from Quinta do Crasto (Douro) and the Cazes family from Château Lynch-Bages (Bordeaux) have been working together since 2002 to exchange experiences and knowledge. The aim has always been to produce unique wines from the privileged Douro region, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The grape varieties are native to the region, but the winemaking technology is French. ROQUETTE & CAZES is the second wine from this project. Its philosophy is based on the teachings it received from its older brother, XISTO – ROQUETTE & CAZES. It is equally elegant, refined and has a deep mouthfeel. The biggest difference is that it can be aged for longer, with the aim of being more ready to drink when it is released onto the market. Excellent freshness and aromatic projection, with well-integrated red fruits and soft spicy notes standing out. A wine of great elegance, which begins in the mouth in a very harmonious way, evolving into a wine of excellent volume and structure composed of velvety tannins. A very captivating wine, which ends with excellent balance and persistence.

  • Soil: The grapes come from two vineyards in different locations in the Douro Valley: Cima Corgo and Douro Superior. The vines are 38 years old and grow on schist soil.
  • Winemaking: All grapes are destemmed and transferred to stainless steel fermentation tanks in a truncated cone shape, where alcoholic fermentation begins at a controlled temperature. During the fermentation process, the French technique of délestage is used, the main objective of which is to increase the skin contact surface when the must/wine is leached over the pulp (cap). The result is a concentrated and complex wine, which respects elegance and avoids rusticity.
  • Tasting Notes: Deep ruby color. Excellent freshness and aromatic projection, with well-integrated red fruits and soft spicy notes.
