Monte Bluna Reserva Branco is a wine with a deep, bright straw yellow colour. Its aroma is grandiose, underlined by its quality and remarkable richness in multiple dimensions. Orchard fruit such as white plum and extremely elegant citrus fruits, notes of green tea and delicate hints of mint from the riverside. Wrapped in well-integrated wood, bringing sweet spices, dried fruits and brioche, all set against a background of limestone that lingers in the memory. On the palate, it is elegant, with an exquisite balance between the generosity of the body, full of substance and vibrant freshness. The finish is admirable in its length and enveloping character.

  • Soil: Located on the Moinho do Céu site, a pristine hill in the Rio Grande da Pipa Basin, which forms part of the River Tejo Basin. The vineyards are located at high altitudes on slopes of varying steepness, flanked by the Tejo to the east, the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Serra de Montejunto to the north, on clay-limestone and limestone soils. Although they are over 300 metres high, marine fossils can still be found in these soils, which are mixed with the dense native shrub vegetation that coexists with the vineyards. The geological units are sedimentary in nature, date back to the Upper Jurassic and are called the Abadia Layers and the Amaral Coral Layers. From a lithological point of view, the Abadia Layers form a clayey complex and the Amaral Coral Layers are composed of a massive to clumped reef limestone, alternating with more marly layers. The climate is warm Mediterranean with moderate drought. However, the specificity of the location, which is strongly marked by the altitude (> 300 m), proximity to the Atlantic and rivers, orogeny, relief and also by the prevailing northerly winds that are felt all year round, lends a certain continental climate, characterised by considerable temperature ranges. Monte Bluna's viticulture is based on the principles of Sustainable Agriculture (Integrated Production) and has balance and the ecosystem as its fundamental pillars. It aims to capitalise on and invest in the national and regional agricultural heritage, ensuring its sustainability, preservation, diversity and perpetuation.
  • Winemaking: The grapes were harvested on the same day, by hand, and sorted into small 20 kg boxes. In the winery, the grapes were again sorted by hand and then destemmed. The crushing (passive) was the result of transport to the press, where they underwent a short maceration and soft pressing. They were fermented together, at room temperature. Half of the Arinto and Vital finished fermentation in the cask and the other half was transferred to the casks after fermentation. French oak casks from the Allier forest of 400 L, 300 L and 225 L were used, with various low-intensity toasting regimes.
